FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
What
is VQube and how does it work?
VQube is the name of our Internet
telephone that allows you to make free phone calls to
other people who are also running VQube on their computers.
Using VQube you can place and receive calls from any PC to
another PC anywhere in the world through the Internet.
When you make a call through VQube, your voice is first converted into digital packets
in your
computer. These voice packets are then sent over the Internet
from your computer to the computer of the person you are calling,
where the packets are again converted back into voice. It does
not cost you anything beyond our monthly subscription and the
connections costs of your local Internet service provider.
Please remember that you and the
person with whom you want to talk to need to be connected to the
Internet to use this service. However, it does not matter if the
person you are calling is in your own private network or across the road or on the other side
of the world, since the call is sent over the Internet using
VoIP (Voice over IP) technology.
You can download trial version of VQube from
www.vqube.com website and start using the service after due registration.
Currently you can download a 30 day trial version for free.
What
do I need to run VQube at my end?
You will need
a computer running Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You
will also need some type of audio device, and a sound card and
a headset or a
Telephone Adapter to connect a telephone instrument or a
cordless phone.
Can I place calls to regular
phones (non-Internet telephones)?
Yes. However, Indian law
currently does not permit calls over IP to terminate onto the
regular (PSTN) phone in India.
What
will be my VQube user identity?
In order to
use VQube, you need a User-id.
This is the signup email id with which you register for the
service on VQube. Please ensure that you give a valid
email id since it would be used for further communications
from ESQUBE. VQube users will use this email id to call you. Each time you login to the VQube service,
you need to enter the sign-in email and the associated password
to identify yourself.
Does VQube
work with dialup Internet connections?
Yes, our
service works with dialup connections too especially in Indian
conditions where bandwidth is not very reliable. It has been
tested successfully when connected at speeds above 20 kbps. The
application also works well with different types of Internet
connections such as Cable, DSL, ADSL, etc.
What is the equipment needed to use the VQube
application?
Other than a
PC with speakers & microphone, no additional equipment is
necessary to use the VQube. Of course, you will
still require Internet connectivity from your ISP to connect.
For better
quality of voice, it is recommended that you use a headset
instead of a microphone and speakers. If you not comfortable
using a headset or microphone, we recommend an analog
Phone
Adapter to connect to a regular analog phone and then you can
speak with out a headset or a microphone,
